Patching with banana cables accidentally opened the door to a sort of a punk interface. Unlike shielded minijacks, grab them anywhere, bridge them with fingers, and suddenly the body becomes part of the synthesizer.
Like a Cracklebox on steroids, the performer is inserted directly into the flow of voltages and sounds. Resistance, conductivity, pressure, sweat, skin contact — all become musical parameters. Every patch is different. Every body is different. Every performance carries a unique electrical signature of the performer.
It is not control over sound. It is participation in sound.
Jeroen Visser is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and sound designer. He blends punk, jazz, and traditional Ethiopian music. He is an active composer for experimental films and animations, such as Arrest in Flight. He creates art installations and writes music for the experimental rock band Stepmother. He also runs his own studio, working as a recording and mixing engineer.

It has been 10 years since we started making audio hardware. We want to take you on a sonic journey of what we’ve made and why. Expect anecdotes, design decisions and lot of sounds from the eurorack modules in our Flourish case and our Fenix IV system. We will talk about the algorithms in Tuesday, going to Shenzhen, the idea behind Bopp & Steve, having a house full of Fenixes, what are these unique sounds in Geometric Anomaly, what our wedding has to do with our modules and why you need utility. More or less all in chronological order. And of course, what comes next.
