Spatial Composition for Field Recordings and Electronics with Felipe Vareschi

Spatial Composition for Field Recordings and Electronics with Felipe Vareschi
  • WORKSHOP IS FULL
  • Time: 2 Hours (from 15:00-17:00)

This is a practical workshop where you’ll learn unconventional and creative recording, engineering and composition techniques that will allow you to see space as your canvas for composition. We will field record, re-amp, process and arrange a small composition together whilst talking about recording theory, what stereo image is and how we can turn our recording space or home studio into a performative composition space.

The workshop is led by Felipe Vareschi, a Berlin-based musician, performer and Mastering engineer focusing on unconventional musical practices, spatial and immersive sound and field recording.

In the workshop, you’ll use a variety of tools, most of which are very affordable or things you already have in your toolset. The goal is to expand your ideas around the possibilities of space as a compositional tool, as well as give you a theory step-up thanks to the resources that will be provided to you. If you want to move your music-making outside the box of a computer-synthesiser composition, this is the right workshop for you!

You are encouraged to submit your own field recordings and bring your own instruments (as long as they are of a reasonable size) to the workshop.

Basic synthesis and music-software skills are ideal, but the workshop is open to all skill levels.
